Sleep All Day...
I went to Bataan just to sleep on a hammock. Literally.
This is one of those “topak” trips my dad had in store. It wasn’t planned in anyway whatsoever. He just told us the previous night (October 30) if we wanted to go to Bataan. Of course, with nothing else to do, and with the longing to see something different, I said yes.
We went to this farm somewhere over there where the air is so cool even though it is midday. Lotsa trees… so peaceful and quiet. I just sat on the rattan hammock before lunch. And after lunch, I was sitting there again. This time I fell asleep. They woke me up only when we were about to leave.
The whole point of the trip was to relax, get some fresh air and enjoy nature.
At any rate, the whole trip was a breeze. We took the commuter ship at the CCP Complex. The cruise took us about two hours! The faster ship was allegedly broke, so we have to be accommodated at the more ‘ancient’ one. Damn! It was like traveling from Cebu to Bohol… that long!
The trip back was fast. (We’ve boarded the ‘newer’ ship), but the 5:30 trip had to be delayed since that friggin’ group of mountaineers with reservations were 20 minutes or so late. (And boy! They ‘do’ smell like they came “fresh” from the mountain!) Of course, the usual bunch of noisy Korean tourists was there, squabbling like mad parrots in Tripitaka Koreana, which sounded nothing like Chinese or Japanese. (I think Korean is the weirdest of all the East Asian languages. Sabagay, sabi na rin ni sir Baron… :P)
Upon arrival at Manila, we went to Chinatown to buy the famous Eng Bee Tin Products (those damn good flavored tikoys and hopias). But personally, I’ve intended all along to get my bundle of sandalwood joss sticks. The Pre-All Saints Day week is a good time to buy them… they’re really cheap. I got myself two bundles that could probably last the whole year.
My dad, apparently incensed by college melancholia and provoked by our quasi-Chinese roots, decided that we have a ‘light’ dinner of maki soup and ma-chang… authentic Chinese taste, all natural, no preservatives. :P (Talk about pigging-out the whole day!)

My birthday wasn’t totally a bummer, but it could have been better. My dad was out on business. I have no driver for the day… so I decided to spend the cold cash all alone. Mwahahaha! (BTW, my birthday celebration was technically done in ‘installment’… first, I’ve treated the guys with a drinking spree on the 23rd, then I had lunch on the 25th with Anya, then I treated the V-Gang on the 27th after the enrolment. So far, this kind of set-up worked well. I didn’t even quite feel the “sudden emptying” of my pocket with this method.)
I got myself two new pairs of shoes. (Read: NAUTICA!), a new pair of denims, a CD (The Diary of Alicia Keys), and of course, who could forget… The Barong Tagalog for school.
I had to save 50% of my 10K kickback (it was already reduced from it’s original amount, because of the ‘legal deductibles’, so to speak) so I could buy the new books for this term. Apparently, I won’t be receiving any more financial support anytime soon. WAAAAHHHH!!!

Still, some people think my birthday is on the 31st. (specifically JL and Jonathan). I can’t help but laugh over this mistake done in good faith. No harm done. :P Though, birthday greetings still kept pouring in ‘til early this evening.
