The Professorial Line Up

Haven’t seen our professors in Administrative Law, Transportation, and Civil Procedure yet. But definitely, they’ll not be missed any time soon!

Presently these are my first impressions…

Judge Noli Diaz – the author of our statutory construction book last year. Kung gaano ka-boring book niya… ganun din siya. Look-alike ni Junie Lee (the freaky guy na ginagawa… or I think the proper word is ‘feigned’… by Michael V.) His favorite mannerism is scratching his head, his wrists, folding and unfolding his sleeves. He turned our Negotiable Instruments Law class into a Reading Class. Literally.

Judge Philip Aguinaldo – Well, it’s better to have him rather than Atty. Fernandez. He’s the Mr. Filch of UST Law, also Oscar the Grouch and he even termed himself as the ‘fashion police’, being the discipline officer… his favorite sayings are: “Oi, wala kang necktie, since this is law school, therefore, you have no LEGAL TIE” (legal tie is better known as vinculum juris… and I’d rather not explain… it’s completely a lawyer’s joke.) OR “Miss, where is you blazer? That jacket is not in substantial compliance of the uniform.” We’ll be counting “If and When”, “In Other Words”, “For Example”, and “You have here…” for another semester. But in reality, we’re happy we have him.

Attorney Bolivar – (Isn’t this name a name of a latin American patriot or currency?) He sounds cool. According to legend, mabait naman siya. Has a thunderous voice. Remove the barong, glasses and formal gestures, you’d probably mistaken him for a professional basketball player.

Labor Undersecretary Josephus B. Jimenez – we don’t know if we’re gonna be happy with him. He’s a good professor… but he makes a 2 unit subject worse than a 5 unit one! Apparently, this term we’ll also be studying Church Manuals, Dogmas of Faith, Buddhism, Islam, Marxism, Existenlialism… The Russian Revolution probably, etc. I didn’t know that Social Legislation is a branch of Eastern and Western Philosophy. Good thing we took up most of it in our Philosophy classes in AB, and yes, thanks to Attorney Gregorio Fernandez too… and to his most memorable speech to me…
“YOU?! WHY ARE YOU TALKING?! STUPID BOY! GET OUT!!!!”
