blahblahblah
last saturday, me, cj and lon spent the whole night and the wee hours od dawn preparing for our powerpoint presentation, report and hand-outs for our social legislation on march 5. no point in proscrastinating i say, when you have to really set in things as early as possible before the second storm comes.
one thing i could say about ilocanos in general, since cj is one. they have a great sense of pride for their ethnic heritage. well, especially in their household. his late grandfather was short of becoming a national artist. the whole house is covered with paintings, artwork and plaques and certificates. what can you say about sleeping on a bed where a painting of the ilocano pantheon hovers over your head, presided by Ferdinand Marcos? not that i'm not used to the eerie feeling of the 'old house'. but a house full of paintings... some of which remain unhanged on the walls (since the room we slept in was beside the late artist's studio), there seemed to be a ghostly (benevolent) air. it was nice to do something like that, do some projects once in a while, a little disruption from the monotonous life of law school is a relief.
then this afternoon, i bumped into atty. abadilla, my family law and remedial law mentor way back in AB. we've chatted in front of the now reduced to rubble coop building for more than fifteen minutes... it was nice to get some advice for this and that... and of course, we've slightly gossipped about some professors in law school, and it turns out that some urban legends in law school are true, and some are not. it is to atty. abadilla that i ascribe the motto of my 'coat of arms'... ENJOY LIFE. he's one of the biggest influences in my AB life (the others being atty. de la cruz and atty. chua)
last week also, we held the college and central student council elections. although the candidates in law school have no competition to say, it is still mandated that they be 'ordained' by a majority vote (50% plus 1). so... they won. Congrats to my friend, Samantha Camitan for winning the presidency, and to Jewel De Austria for the Secretaryship, and to the rest of the offices (with special mention to Ms. P.R.O. Kathy Franco... grabe and ganda mo! sayang ka nga lang, pinatulan mo si erwin. buti na lang binasted mo!) i hope you give Atty. Culing a dose of his own medicine... if you know what i mean.
On the other hand, woe to JV Almeda... tangna ka! ang yabang mo! sana matalo ka sa CSC election!
another point to take into consideration for my short entry today... is the on-going war between the Aegis Juris and Suprema Lex Fraternities.
then this afternoon, after i entered the lobby, another fight broke out, apparently between another Aegis and a Suprema that was a former LM student na batchmate namin. honestly, i don't care if they ever kill each other, if that is their sense of brotherhood. but we we're just concern for the fate of our classmates who are Aegis boys (joey, ferry and vic... including mike who is a suprema). it's funny how the frat system works in lawschool... these people are short of becoming members of the bar, but they settle things in childish ways.
not that i'm a total advocate of peace (or a hippie for that matter), i'd kill even, lest fight for my friends' sake.... if the circumstances warrant. (apparently, these people already forgot the aggravating, justifying, exempting and mitigating circumstances.) but to ensue a frat war which started with a 'titigan', whether or not it is coupled with a malicious intent, is just down right juvenile. seems like the atmosphere in law school won't cool down anytime soon. i wish judge aguinaldo's intervention (who by the way is a suprema) would do some good.
made me wonder... i was entertaining the thought of joining Gamma or Ordo before. But due to some events for the past week (both insignificant and major) i see that there are some things against my personal credo. brotherhood is not built on initiation rites and some other forms of consideration. brotherhood is build on a foundation of trust, tested through time.
believe me... i already found my brothers.
